Annika Freese

(she/her/hers) is an

award-winning writer-director and graphic designer based in Los Angeles.

Growing up around the world (from the Sandia Mountains of rural New Mexico to the cobblestoned streets of Vienna, Austria), Annika explores the transient nature of identity and what it means to belong in the hopes of answering the question: "how can we make society suck just a little bit less?"

She is a 2020 Final Draft Big Break Quarter-Finalist and a Big Apple Film Fest Finalist for her feature, The Detour.

Annika is the editor of and a main contributor to In Other Words, a digital literary magazine exploring the interpersonal impact of structural social injustice on our day-to-day lives through the deeply personal (like, probably-should've-stayed-in-your-journal-because-your-family-can't-look-you-in-the-eye-at-Thanksgiving-now kind of personal).

She is also the Founder and Creative Director of Selfish Design Co., which specializes in website design for relationship coaches, sex therapists, and intimacy coordinators.

Good q - To me, the roach is a symbol of resilience and acceptance of that which we cannot control. Also, I'm facing my fears.
